The entity ASD Granfondo Pinarello, with the approval of the Italian Cycling Federation (Federazione Ciclistica Italiana), present the:

1^st Edition of lapinarello cycling marathon
- 14^th Edition of the Granfondo Pinarello e della Marca Trevigiana -

TREVISO, Piazza dei Signori (historic city centre)

PARTICIPATION:

Entry is open to all cyclists (touring and amateur cyclists – Cycling for All) who hold licenses recognized by the U.C.I. or medical certificate or personal insurance; entries are open to all categories for both males and females between the ages of 15 and 65 years of age. Those under the age of 19 and over the age of 65 with cycling experience will be only allowed to participate in the shorter distance event.

CLASSIFICATION:

lapinarello cycling marathon it is carried out as an open race with exclusive Team classifications; the two distances on offer are 130 km and 205 km, which ride through the provinces of Treviso, Vicenza and Belluno. It is NOT NECESSARY to decide the distance before race day. All roads will be open to regular traffic during the entire race, hence is important to practice and observe the “Codice della Strada” (rules of the road) at all times.

RACE START:

Participants can start the race between 6:45 am and 7:30 am; it is obligatory that each participant wear the assigned timing chip in order to record their overall time.

STARTING GRID:

There shall be no MERIT GRIDS in the race start area.

RACE OPEN TIME AND MAXIMUM RACE TIME:

The race area will open at 6:30 am; the latest GRANFONDO finish time will be 17:00 pm; the latest MEDIOFONDO finish time will be 14:00 pm (completion outside of these times will not be considered valid); Participants in both distances will be able to view their race times after the race..

CLOSING GATES:

For participants choosing to race in the 205 km Granfondo shall note that there shall be a “closing gate” in the vicinity of where the two distances deviate from one another, this being Bocca di Serra, kilometre 53. Participants who do not arrive within the cut off time to this gate (please refer to the race map), will be redirected to the Mediofondo course.

ACCESS TO THE START AREA:

Access into the start area will be univocal for both distances. Each participant will need to enter the start area via the very first gate in order to reach the starting line. Each rider will need to walk up a ramp (by foot, wheeling their bike), passing the racing chip mat and then down the other side to the starting line. Timing will begin when riders pass a second racing chip mat approximately 30 m after the start line. Participants who do not pass both mats will be disqualified.

lapinarello cycling marathon is an invitational race and once registered, the rider becomes an associate of the entity ASD Granfondo Pinarello; the organizing committee reserves the right to not accept incomplete or illegible registrations.

Registrations must be submitted via official form or on a team’s official letterhead with the following detail for each athlete: First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Sex, Full Address, Phone Number, CHIP code (in the instance of personally owned chips), Signature.

For group registrations, an accumulated total payment can be made, along with a full list of athletes and their complete details, signed by the President of the entity.
The module can be sent via mail, email or via to the abovementioned address/number, enclosing the relative receipt of payment (registrations without payment receipt will not be accepted).
For teams with numerous registrations it is possible to substitute riders, provided that all changes are communicated via fax or email before the close of business of 13th July 2010.

The race entry fee includes an FCI Day License. All participants are required to supply a copy of a medical certificate which states they are in good health (or declaration from their personal doctor);
The race entry fee does not include personal timing CHIP (see further ahead for more information).

Registrations received via fax which request billing a credit card, shall incur a fixed commission fee of € 4.00.

Acceptance of registration remains the decision of the organisers; whom reserve the right to decline under their final judgment. In the case of a declined registration, the fee will be returned in full.

REGULATION - RACE CHIP WINNING TIME 2010:

The race timing shall be conducted by Winning Time – SMS Services. The chip used for the 2010 edition of the race is a personal CHIP (for more detail, see: www.winningtime.com).
A “day CHIP” can be rented for € 10.00 when collecting your race pack (of which € 7.00 shall be refunded at the end of the race upon return).

SOUVENIR JERSEY:

For those that wish to purchase the 2010 lapinarello cycling marathon cycling jersey, the cost will be € 25.00 ($USD 40.00 or £ 25.00) and can be ordered at the time of registration. It is possible to reserve the SOUVENIR jersey by completing the appropriate section on the entry form.

COMBINATION PACKAGE:

It is possible to register for lapinarello cycling marathon and directly purchase the package of your choice, saving money.

CLASSIFICATION:

Race classifications will be made available for both distances; they will be RIGOROUSLY checked and displayed IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER indicating only the overall race time of the athlete; CATEGORY placing will not be carried out.

LICENSE VERIFICATION:

All registered participants must present themselves at lapinarello cycling marathon INFO POINT (Piazza Duomo Treviso) in order to verify their racing licence and to collect their race numbers. The place and time of consignment is

• SATURDAY 17th July from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm
• SUNDAY 18th July from 6:00 am to 6:45 am

SOUVENIR COLLECTION:

The promotional souvenir for the 2010 lapinarello cycling marathon is the lapinarello beach towel. This will be awarded to all participants upon completing the Mediofondo and Granfondo races.

REAR AND FRONT NUMBERS:

It is obligatory to wear the rear number, mainly for athlete identification (be sure to complete the necessary fields on the rear side of the number in case of an emergency, this will assist event personnel if necessary). The front number should be mounted on the handlebars of the bike and easily visible. Failure to wear/mount numbers can lead to an exclusion from final classifications. Front and rear numbers will be of the same colour.

NOTICE OF NON-PARTICIPATION:

in the instance of a registered participant not being able to participate on the day, the registration fee will be held and made valid for the 2011 edition. The notice of non-participation must be received before close of business on 14th July, 2010.

RACE CANCELLATION:

the race will be held regardless of the weather conditions, other than in the instance of a natural disaster; in this case the organisation will validate 50% of the registration fee for the 2011 edition.

CONTROLS/OFFICIALS:

For both the Mediofondo and Granfondo, race officials will be located at the start and finish lines. In addition, they will be spread accordingly along the entire race course. The race management shall be entrusted by the race judges and authorized staff. Participants that attempt to anticipate the start time or start without registering their chip at the starting area will be excluded from the final classification.

RESULTS:

Individual race classifications will be published on the website www.lapinarello.com in the following days after race day.

SPECIAL CLASSIFICATION FOR MOUNTAIN TIME TRIAL:

Those who participate in the Monte Grappa time trial (long course only) will be placed in a special classification. It is necessary for participants to pass over pre-assigned timing mats at the beginning and end of the climb.
The special ceremony will award the first 20 places based on their minimum overall climbing time.

RACE ASSITANCE:

During the race there shall be a consistent number of both medical and mechanical assistance personnel, both fixed and mobile. Hence, it is prohibited for riders to have personal assistance (vehicle, motorbike etc) following them during the race; if so, the athlete will be disqualified.

THEFT:

We recommend and ask that you take extra care during the entire race program to avoid possible bicycle theft. Avoid leaving bikes in unattended vehicles, especially during the “pasta party” at the conclusion of the race.

SWEEP VAN:

The organizing committee has made available a “sweep van” on race day. This is a service for participants who find themselves unable to continue riding. Riders who enter the van must remain within until it reaches the finish area.

RULES OF THE ROAD:

All roads will be open to regular traffic during the entire race, hence is important to practice and observe the “Codice della Strada” (rules of the road) at all times..

FEDEREAL REGULATIONS:

Be reminded that lapinarello cycling marathon is an amateur cycling race and not recognized in the present regulations of the Commissione Nazionale Cicloturismo of the FCI; the organizing committee declines every responsibility for events that happened before, during and after the event and which are seen to have involved participants or between them or with third parties..

CLAIMS:

All claims will need to be addressed to the race judge within the terms and regulations of the contest and shall be accompanied by the charge as set in the F.C.I regulations.

IT IS COMPULSORY TO WEAR A CERTIFIED/APPROVED BICYCLE HELMET AT ALL TIMES.
